While Elizabeth Olsen has become a major star within the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch since her debut in 2015's Avengers: Age of Ultron, she auditioned for a different fan-favorite role years earlier: Game of Thrones main character Daenerys Targaryen.

According to Olsen, her audition for the part of the Dragon Queen went so abysmally, she had temporarily purged it from her memory before being reminded of it by a reporter during an interview. While appearing on Live with Kelly and Ryan, Olsen recounted her audition for the HBO series and remembering the experience years later.

Game of Thrones ended with its eighth and final season earlier this year, going on to earn 32 Emmy Award nominations and winning in several major categories.

In the meantime, Olsen is poised to reprise her role as Scarlet Witch on WandaVision, a Disney+ original series leading into Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness in 2021.

WandaVision stars Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch, Paul Bettany as Vision, Randall Park as Agent Jimmy Woo, Kat Dennings as Darcy Lewis, Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau and Kathryn Hahn in an undisclosed role. Jac Schaeffer will serve as series showrunner. The show will stream exclusively on Disney+ in spring 2021.
