Actor Elisabeth Moss is in talks to board Universal's The Invisible Man reboot, which is the studio's latest attempt to revive the classic horror franchise.

Variety reports that Moss is in the "extremely early stages" of talks for an unnamed part in the movie, which will be directed by Insidious: Chapter Three's Leigh Whannell. Moss is known for her roles on such shows as Mad Men and The Handmaid's Tale, and she will next appear in Jordan Peele's Us and then comic book movie The Kitchen.

The Invisible Man was originally slated to be part of its Dark Universe and star Johnny Depp in the title role. However, the project is no longer expected to be part of the shared universe. Following the critical disdain and lackluster box office for Tom Cruise and Russell Crowe's The Mummy, original writer Ed Solomon departed the project, remarking that Universal was "reconfiguring" its Dark Universe. Depp later left the project.

When it comes to The Invisible Man, Universal might have found a secret weapon. Jason Blum of Blumhouse Productions has said he will help out with the movie, and his magic touch has helped propel everything from Paranormal Activity and The Purge to M. Night Shyamalan's Unbreakable universe to success.
