Eli Roth's cannibal thriller "The Green Inferno," which seemed as if it might never see the light of day, finally has a release date.

The filmmaker announced today on Facebook that, thanks to Jason Blum, the movie will arrive in theaters Sept. 25, by way of Blumhouse Productions' new Blumhouse Tilt label.

Shot in 2012 and 2013, "The Green Inferno" centers on group of idealistic college students who travel to the Amazon in hopes of saving a vanishing tribe. However, when their plane crashed in the jungle, they're taken hostage by the very natives they wanted to protect.Open Road Films acquired the distribution rights following "The Green Inferno's" 2013 premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, but disputes about money and producer credits led to the movie being abandoned.
