Eli Roth Returns to Directing With The Green Inferno

It’s been five years since Eli Roth directed a feature film, spending much of that time moving and shaking in Hollywood as a writer, producer and actor. Heck, he even has a series set up on Netflix called Hemlock Grove. But according to The Hollywood Reporter, the Hostel and Cabin Fever director will return to the big screen with The Green Inferno for Worldview Entertainment.

While details on the story are being kept under wraps, we know that Roth co-wrote the film with Guillermo Amoedo. The pair also worked on the earthquake flick Aftershock, which Roth starred in. Shooting that film in Chile and Peru inspired Roth to do the same with Green Inferno.

“I’ve had an amazing few years producing, writing and acting, and am very excited to get back in the director’s chair,” Roth said. “I’ve been working on this idea for several years, and was inspired by filming in Chile and cannot wait to get back,” Roth said. “Worldview backs my vision and believe in me, and is giving me the support I need and the freedom to take risks and make something daring and terrifying.”

It will be interesting to see what Roth does with his return to directing on the big screen now that he’s learned so much about the rest of the film business.
