Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown broke down why it's so essential that Eleven will enter Season 4 without her abilities.

Ahead of the Season 4 release on Netflix, CBR attended a roundtable with Brown and Noah Schnapp (Will Beyers). Brown was specifically asked about Eleven losing her powers and what that will mean for the story moving forward. "You get to really explore that this season," Brown said. "Without her superpowers, who is she? What does she have? What does she bring to the table? What does she know? Same goes without Mike -- what does she know, and who is she? What does she wear? What's her style? What's her voice? What does she believe in? These are all things that I think are really nice to explore this season and also really good timing."

"She's getting older. The kids are all getting older, and with growing up, young people want to gain autonomy from not only their parents but their friends," Brown continued. "They're really finding out who they are and searching for that. So I think it's quite nice to see Eleven do that this season."

The new season will also show Eleven's relationships with other characters, including her growing bond with Will. "It's awesome," Schnapp said. "I love their sibling relationship that we get to show this season. You kind of see Will as an overprotective brother to El this season, through all her struggles in high school. It's been fun, off set, just to be together and be able to play that because prior to that, we never really had any scenes or much [chance] to work together. That was the first time we really got to be together and work alongside each other, and it was great."

Of course, the show won't be all character growth and interpersonal relationships. The mystery of the Upside Down and the origin of the powered children will be further explored. The opening scene of Stranger Things Season 4, which was released ahead of the show's premiere, introduces Ten. And there are presumably even more members of Eleven's family out there.

The reviews for Stranger Things Season 4 have been largely positive so far, so clearly Eleven's lack of powers won't put a damper on things when Volume 1 arrives May 27 on Netflix.
