FromSoftware confirmed the PC requirements for its upcoming RPG Elden Ring and gamers running a budget set-up may be disappointed...According to a post on FromSoftware's official Twitter account, Elden Ring will require a surprisingly chunky 12GB of RAM in order to meet the minimum requirements. This is only marginally less than the recommended specifications, which note that the game will run best with 16GB of RAM. In order to get the most out of the visuals, players will need an Nvidia GTX 1070 or AMD Radeon Vega 56, but it will still be playable with an Nvidia GTX 1060 or AMD Radeon RX 580. Fans will also need 60GB of storage space which is largely expected of a major AAA release.Related: Elden Ring Creator Opens Up About What Inspired the Game

The small gap between the minimum and recommended requirements took many fans by surprise, especially considering FromSoftware's previous games. Titles like Dark Souls and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice were notable at their respective times of release for sporting manageable PC specifications.

Elden Ring is one of 2022's most anticipated games and will see players embark on an adventure in the twisted world of the Lands Between. As a customizable character known only as The Tarnished, gamers will need to explore the sprawling map and defeat challenging bosses to recover the scattered Great Runes, eventually restoring the Elden Ring and taking their place as the Elden Lord.

Speaking to the world design of Elden Ring, producer Yasuhiro Kitao noted that players will be able to discover plenty of secrets and hidden treasures while exploring the Lands Between. The game will also sport several optional bosses that will challenge players unlucky enough to unexpectedly stumble upon them.

Beyond FromSoftware's penchant for creating grim fantasy settings, Elden Ring received a helping hand from acclaimed author George. R.R. Martin, who wrote the A Song of Ice and Fire series. "I think if we get a chance to show Martin and if he gets a chance to see the game and see these characters, I think he might be a bit shocked," said director Hidetaka Miyazaki. "When he wrote them, he was really envisioning something a little bit more human, a little bit more traditional human drama and fantasy characters. So I hope he gets a kick out of that."

Elden Ring launches for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC on Feb.25.
