The long-awaited game from the minds of FromSoftware and George R.R Martin has finally received a new trailer.

This year's Summer Games Fest ended with a bang with the debut of the highly anticipated first gameplay trailer for Elden Ring. The game is being made as collaboration between Game of Thrones creator George R.R. Martin and FromSoftware's Dark Souls team, lead by director Hidetaka Miyazaki, who also directed 2020's Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Fans have been desperate for another look at Elden Ring ever since it was first announced in 2019.

The gameplay, somber atmosphere and visual style all appear to be similar to FromSoftware's previous games in the Dark Souls series. The player character in this game will apparently be addressed as "The Tarnished." FromSoftware's games have been lauded by critics for their tight gameplay and challenging but fair difficulty, and the trailer for Elden Ring suggests that the new game will continue that tradition.

Elden Ring is being developed by FromSoftware and will be published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. The game launches on PC, Playstation 4, Playstation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S|X on  January 21, 2022.
