Eiza González, who was last seen on the big screen in Baby Driver, will star opposite Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham in the upcoming Fast & Furious spinoff, Hobbs and Shaw.
Johnson and Statham played rivals, Luke Hobbs and Deckard Shaw, in the Fast & Furious series, but over time they became unlikely allies. Their chemistry in their appearances together in the series was so dynamic that the idea of a spinoff was rumored before the film was officially announced.
There are no details yet on the character González will play in the film.
Hobbs and Shaw will be directed by David Leitch (Atomic Blonde, Deadpool 2) from a script by Chris Morgan. Morgan has already penned six of the Fast & Furious movies, and is also writing the series's ninth outing, scheduled for 2020.
Audiences will be seeing a lot of González in the next couple years. She will next be seen in the Steve Carell-starring Welcome to Marwen. In 2019, she will appear in Alita: Battle Angel and Paradise Hills, and then in Godzilla vs. Kong in 2020.
Hobbs and Shaw stars Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Idris Elba and Vanessa Kirby. It is scheduled to be released on Aug. 2, 2019.
