Eisner Award Winner Darwyn Cooke Signs 2-Year Exclusive Agreement With DC Comics

Darwyn Cooke, the Eisner Award winning writer/artist of "DC: The New Frontier," has signed a 2-year exclusive agreement with DC Comics. Cooke is illustrating the upcoming "Batman/The Spirit" Special, written by Jeph Loeb, and is writing and illustrating DC's new monthly series starring "The Spirit."

"DC is a natural fit for me," says Cooke. "They're the books I loved as a kid, and they're the company that has had a heck of a lot of faith in my work. When DC approached me about The Spirit, I realized what an enormous commitment it would be, and how much faith DC was placing in me. I consider the Spirit to be the challenge of my career, and I promise the readers I'll be giving it everything I've got. I wanted to go exclusive to show the degree to which I was commited to this project."

"Darwyn is incredibly versatile and talented, and we're very excited to have him working with us," says Dan DiDio, VP - Executive Editor, DCU. "He's every bit as comfortable with small, personal stories like 'Catwoman' or the sweeping grandeur of 'New Frontier.' Having Darwyn on board is great not just for the DCU but for DC Comics as a whole."
