So, fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe have known for some time now that "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2" is going to feature Kurt Russell as Ego the Living Planet, and the character will play a pretty significant role as Star-Lord's absentee dad.

Now, thanks to Comicbook.com's recent set visit, we know that Russell was referred to as "J'son" on set — the alien emperor who is revealed as Star-Lord's dad in the comics.

But, according to it's writer/director James Gunn, the revelation of of Star-Lord's paternity, and his father being a different character in the movie, isn't going to be central to the film's main plot.

Speaking on the set, Gunn said, “The movie really isn't about that...it's not about this big reveal of who the father is. It really is about the story between the different characters, and so it's not about that reveal. It's not about there's this big shock moment. We're probably all going to know by the time the movie comes out. It happens pretty close to the beginning of the film. It's not something we reveal at the end of the film. So it's something that'll come out eventually.”
