Edgar Wright, who left the long-developing Ant-Man in May over creative differences with Marvel, isn’t wasting any time filling his schedule.
News earlier this week that he’ll return to Baby Driver, announced in 2008 as part of the deal with Working Title Pictures that brought us The World’s End, today is followed by another project, as Deadline reports Wright will direct Sony’s adaptation of Grasshopper Jungle.
It’s based on Andrew Smith’s acclaimed young-adult novel, a coming-of-age story about a hormonal teen in small-town Iowa who, along with his friend, accidentally unleashes a swarm of hungry, horny genetically altered 6-foot-tall praying mantises that only wants to do two things.
Scott Rosenberg (Beautiful Girls, Con Air) wrote the script and will produce alongside Matt Tolmach and Nira Park.
