Edgar Ramirez Replaces Gerard Butler in 'Point Break'

Gerard Butler bailed on Point Break last week, but production hasn't skipped a beat.

According to Variety, Alcon Entertainment's remake of the cult-classic action movie has replaced the actor with Edgar Ramirez (Carlos the Jackal). He'll play Bodhi, the bank-robbing surfer played by the late Patrick Swayze in the Kathryn Bigelow-helmed original.

In fact, Ramirez already as a connection to Point Break, by way of Bigelow. He was part of the cast of her most recent movie, Zero Dark Thirty.

The Point Break reboot, which also stars Luke Bracey and Ray Winstone, hits theaters Aug. 7, 2015.
