Eddie Redmayne knows exactly which Batman villain he'd like to play.As part of 2019 TIFF (Toronto's International Film Festival), IMDB asked Redmayne which member of the Dark Knight's rogues gallery he'd want to portray, to which the actor replied, "I'd like to play the Riddler."

Of course, Redmayne's not the first actor to express interest in playing one of Batman's most intriguing villains; James McAvoy and Jim Parsons have also named The Riddler as the foe they'd like to portray.

However, while both McAvoy and Parsons have shown they can act within the range that The Riddler requires, Redmayne might have a slight advantage (other than sharing a name with Edward Nigma): he loves movies based on superhero comic books and he even auditioned to play Star-Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy and Harry Osborne in The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

The Riddler was one of the villains floated to play opposite Robert Pattinson's Bruce Wayne in the upcoming Batman movie, written and directed by Matt Reeves. Although very little is known about the plot, what is clear is that it will take place during Batman's formative years. The Riddler's modus operandi, which blurs the line between games and crimes, would be perfect for this era.
