Actor and comedian Patton Oswalt crashed an interview with Stranger Things' Joseph Quinn to praise the young actor's performance in the show.

Variety released a red carpet interview with Quinn, in which Oswalt interrupted to convey salutations to the English actor, stating, "You nailed a persona that was so around in the '80s that kinda isn't around that much anymore. You captured a character from another time. It's like you came out of a time machine." The uplifting piece of praise comes from a star who's generally considered geek royalty, based not only on his stand-up comedy routine but notable genre roles on shows like Netflix's The Sandman and ABC's Marvel's Agents of SHIELD.

Will Stranger Things Bring Back Eddie Munson?

Quinn played metalhead Eddie Munson on Season 4 of Stranger Things and quickly became a fan favorite. Viewers even went as far as to write a petition in an attempt to convince the show's writers to bring the character back from his climactic sacrificial death, with around 87,000 signatures collected. As the petition reads, "The Duffer Brothers have unfairly killed him off and many other fans and I think he deserves to be brought back and not just as a flashback."

Sadly for his fan club, however, the show's executive producer, Shawn Levy, said that Eddie making an appearance in Season 5 is "Highly unlikely." He then teased, "But, we hear you, world. We know. You're obsessed with Eddie. So were we." Yet, fans will soon get to discover for themselves whether Eddie is returning to Stranger Things, as the writers' room confirmed that they were starting to write the final season on Aug. 2, 2022. Actor David Harbour, who plays Jim Hopper in the show, thinks that the new episodes will come out sometime in 2024, "based on [its] track record."

Not much is known about the new season of Stranger Things, though the writers have confirmed that it will contain a total of eight episodes. Additionally, the runtimes apparently won't be as "extreme" as they were in Season 4, where some episodes had a runtime of over two hours.

Intriguingly, the show's co-creator, Matt Duffer, also revealed that there probably won't be any new characters introduced in the series-concluding Season 5. "We're doing our best to resist [adding new characters] for Season 5," he said. "We're trying not to do that so we can focus on the OG characters, I guess."

Stranger Things Seasons 1-4 are currently available to stream on Netflix.
