Venom has a long, sordid history with Spider-Man, first as the web-slinger's nemesis, and then as a reluctant ally. Of course, this rivalry primarily consisted of Eddie Brock and Peter Parker as the focal points, even though other characters like Flash Thompson and Mac Gargan have also worn the alien symbiote.

There have been other Spider-Men as well (thanks to the Spider-Verse), with one of the most popular debuting in the Ultimate Universe. Miles Morales took up the mantle of Spider-Man after falling in battle to the Green Goblin, and made a name for himself in multiple ongoing series before making the leap to the Marvel Prime Universe following 2015's Secret Wars.

Miles' uncle, Aaron Davis, may be considered his top villain, but the Ultimate Universe Venom left a lasting impression on the young Spider-Man when the symbiote played a role in the death of his mother, Rio Morales. The loss of the Ultimate Universe prevented Miles from getting revenge on the symbiote, but Venom #3 brings Miles and Eddie together for the very first time in a classic case of mistaken identity. The showdown also provides a perfect explanation for one of Spider-Man's more unique superpowers.

We're Killing Spider-Man

Before Venom is properly introduced to Miles, he first attempts to deal with the oversized symbiote dragon rampaging through New York. We'd later learn the god of the symbiotes, Knull, is the one controlling the monster. Knull has the ability to affect and control any symbiotes that come within his proximity, which is displayed when the Venom symbiote begins to act out and disobey Eddie's commands.

Eddie becomes lost in his own mind because of this, and the first image he sees when gaining back control is of a beaten Miles Morales, who tried a surprise attack on Venom. In a one-on-one fight, the advantage obviously goes to Venom, who's bigger, stronger, and more experienced than Miles. But once you factor in an uncontrollable Venom being influenced by Knull, and Miles barely stood a chance.

However, thanks to Eddie, a moment of hesitation bought Miles enough time to introduce Venom to one power that Peter doesn't have as Spider-Man: a Venom Blast.

It's Called A Venom Blast

During their earlier altercation, Miles gained the upper hand with a swift left hook, leaving Venom's tongue exposed. Miles quickly grabbed the long tongue and reached in to unleash his Venom Blast, which acts as a powerful stunning technique.

The Venom Blast is powerful enough to break Knull's hold over the symbiote, allowing Eddie to become Venom's dominant personality again. After some tense moments, Eddie convinces Miles to work with him to stop the symbiote dragon, calling for an extra-large dose of the same Venom Blast he was hit with earlier.

"You got any more of that thing you hit me with?" Eddie asked. "Yeah. It's called a... ugh... It's called a Venom Blast," Miles sheepishly replied. Impressed, Eddie isn't too proud to admit that it's a pretty good name.

Unfortunately for Miles, Venom's big plan involves tossing Miles inside the symbiote dragon's mouth, in order to deliver the Venom Blast internally. The result is a fiery explosion that lights the monster's entire face up, causing the rest of the body to dissolve, revealing Knull for the very first time. The act also leaves Miles unconscious, as exerting his full Venom Blast supply typically leaves him drained. Venom better hope Miles wakes up soon, because he'll need all the help he can get to defeat the alien god.
