Eddie Brock is a brand-new Spider-Man in Marvel's upcoming Extreme Venomverse series.
Honoring the 35th anniversay of Venom, Extreme Venomverse is five-issue limited series taking readers to some brand-new corners of the Marvel multiverse. Similar to 2022's Edge of Spider-Verse limited series, Extreme Venomverse will introduce a number of Eddie Brock and his son, Dylan, variants in each issue, along with some brand-new and altogether terrifying incarnations of Venom. Debuting in the first issue is an Eddie Brock who is also Spider-Man in a story from Ryan North and Paulo Siqueira. Extreme Venomverse #1 also features a story from Mirka Andolfo about the entire Brock family as well as an entry from Leonardo Romero that depicts Venom as a samurai.
Extreme Venomverse Is Leading to a Major Symbiote Event
Announced at New York Comic-Con, Marvel will launch "Summer of Symbiotes" in 2023. The publisher previously teased of the event, "Sun’s out, tongue’s out! Spinning out of titles like Venom, Carnage, and Red Goblin comes a slew of new symbiotic stories. Get ready for the return of old faces, the debut of new symbiote heroes, and exciting shifts for iconic symbiote stars. It’s a season of symbiote insanity!"
On Jan. 18, 2023, Marvel unveiled a teaser featuring promotional artwork by Gerardo Sandoval for a new "Death of Venomverse" development. While details are being kept under wraps at this time, the publisher teased, "This summer...The Death of the Venomverse!" with more information to follow. The publisher also revealed Extreme Venomverse is set before the "Death of Venomverse" epic begins.
Eddie Brock is currently wrapped-up in Marvel's Dark Web event, as Madelyne Pryor tapped him, Chasm/Ben Reilly and Hallows' Eve/Janine Godbe to help her launch an attack from Limbo onto New York City. Venom #15 (by Ram V, Bryan Hitch, Andrew Currie, Scott Hanna, Alex Sinclair and VC's Clayton Cowles), which released Jan. 18, 2023, saw Dylan reunite with Normie Osborn/Red Goblin as they attempt to defeat Bedlam. Their efforts prove successful only after Dylan begins fighting with All-Black; however, the issue ends with the sudden arrival of Ms. Marvel, back from time in Limbo and ready to straighten things out. A hostless Carnage, meanwhile, has taken a trip down to Marvel's hell as he's attempting to create his very own version of All-Black, all while Cletus Kasady is plotting his own moves.
Extreme Venomverse #1 is written by North, Romero and Andolfo, features art by Siqueira, Romero and Nico Leon and cover art by Leinil Francis Yu. The issue goes on sale May 10, 2023.
