Singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran has scored a recurring role on "The Bastard Executioner," the upcoming medieval drama from "Sons of Anarchy" creator Kurt Sutter.
The FX series stars Lee Jones as a knight broken by the ravages of war who tries to lay down the sword and take up the life of a farmer, only to be forced into bloodshed again.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sheeran, a "Sons of Anarchy" fan who recorded a song for the show's penultimate episode, will play Sir Cormac, an ambitious and deadly protégé of a high-ranking church elder.
The six-time Grammy nominee joins a sprawling cast that also includes Stephen Moyer, Katey Sagal, Sam Spruell, Matthew Rhys and Sutter himself.
