Lionsgate's I, Frankenstein looks to be offering a new take on Mary Shelley's literary patchwork monstrosity, and we've got some new details today thanks to a just-issued press release.
The movie, set for a February 22, 2013 release (yes, 2013 -- not a typo), picks up in the modern day, with Dr. Frankenstein's creation -- now going by the name Adam -- having survived through the years thanks to "a genetic quirk." He ends up in a "dark, gothic metropolis" and "caught in an all-out, centuries old war between two immortal clans." So that's kinda neat.
The announcement also confirms that Aaron Eckhart will take the lead role of Adam Frankenstein. No other casting is revealed, although Stuart Beattie, who adapted the script from Underworld creator Kevin Grevioux's graphic novel bearing the same name, will also direct.
