Every single one of One Piece's 100 volumes have now sold over 1 million copies each.

This staggering sales achievement was revealed by Japanese sales tracker Oricon on Sept. 10. The 100th collected volume of Eiichiro Oda's shonen manga was released in Japan on Sept. 3 and has already sold over 1.1 million copies, which now means that each individual volume of One Piece has now cleared the 1-million sales mark. One Piece is the series with the most volumes to surpass the 1 million milestone, followed by Attack on Titan in a distant second with 34 volumes, and Naruto in third with 31 volumes. While every volume has cleared the 1 million mark, the majority of volumes from the first ten years of the series' run have also managed to sell more than 3 million copies each.

The new sales achievement and the release of the manga's 100th volume are the latest major milestones that the One Piece franchise has achieved in 2021. Oda's long-running manga published its 1000th chapter earlier this year and the One Piece anime, which debuted in 1999 and has remained one of Japan's highest rated shows throughout its run, will air its 1000th episode soon.

One Piece was created by Eiichiro Oda and debuted in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1997. The series is now the best selling manga of all time, with almost half a billion in copies in circulation worldwide. In addition to the manga, anime, and the dozens of video games based on the series, One Piece merchandise also continues to be a big seller: the various companies involved with producing merchandise for the series reported that from 2018 - 2019, One Piece generated over $468 million dollars in sales of clothing, toys, and other merch featuring the series' iconography and characters.

The series' next evolution will be a live-action series by Netflix and Tomorrow Studios, who are also involved in the production of the upcoming Cowboy Bebop live-action remake. The new series is being written by The X-Files' Steven Maeda and Luke Cage's Matt Owens, and will be executive produced by Oda himself.

In addition to the franchise's commercial success, One Piece has also been a critical darling throughout its 24 year existence. The manga has been nominated for a Kodansha Manga Award, and was a three-time finalist for the prestigious Osamu Tezuka Cultural Award. The series' worldwide cultural impact was illustrated at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, when multiple athletes from different countries publicly displayed their love of One Piece during the competition. In 2021, Japanese broadcaster TV Asahi named One Piece as the best manga of all time.

Despite One Piece's on-going success, Oda has recently hinted that his opus will soon reach its final conclusion.
