Square Enix was one of the late additions to E3 2021's lineup of digital presentations.  The publisher will broadcast its showcase via Twitch and YouTube on June 13 at 12:15 PM PST. The presentation isn't going to be the marathon session that Nintendo has planned. However, it'll still feature key titles, many of which Square has already announed. Still, given its deep roster of franchises, the company could have some serious surprises up its sleeve.

One of the games that Square will show off at E3 will be the world premiere of a new title from Eidos-Montréal. This is the studio behind the reboot of the beloved RPG series Deus Ex via the well received Human Revolution and its less popular sequel, Mankind Divided. The team was also responsible for the 2014 reboot of the classic stealth game Thief.

Instead of a return to its past series, leaks suggest that the studio will be showing off a game based on Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. There's no word on what kind of game GotG will be, but it's easy to assume it will be a single player RPG in the style of the Deus Ex titles until we hear otherwise. It hopefully won't suffer from the same pitfalls as Square's other Marvel game, Marvel's Avengers.

Speaking of which, Marvel's Avengers will also have a presence at E3. Avengers' latest expansion, Black Panther: War For Wakanda, will be featured in the presentation. This expansion will finally add T'Challa to Avengers as a playable character and a Wakanda-focused campaign, in addition to a new level cap, outpost and enemies. Like previous expansions, it's unlikely to save the game, but it might draw some lapsed and new fans in.

Outside of the Marvel Video Game Universe, PlatinumGames will be showing off its latest project with the publisher, Babylon's Fall. Gamers will get their first look at the latest action game from the developer of Bayonetta and NieR: Automata since 2019, when Platinum showed it off at a Sony event. What's been revealed of the game so far makes it look like another entry into the stylish action sub-genre that Platinum has pioneered. Its latest showcase should emphasize what sets it apart form its predecessors.

The latest installment in the Life Is Strange series, True Colors, will also be part of Square's E3 showcase. Developer Deck Nine has promised a deep dive into the newest entry in the adventure series. We already know it will introduce a new protagonist, empath Alex Chen, and won't follow the series' trademark episodic format. Life Is Strange fans will also get their first look at Life Is Strange: Remastered Collection, a compilation of the first two games in the series.

Beyond that, rumors are abound as to what else Square could have up its sleeve at E3. Beyond the Guardians of the Galaxy game, Final Fantasy Origin might also be revealed. The game is rumored to be an entry into the Souls-like genre. Final Fantasy XVI is also expected to be at E3 in some form. There's even a rumor that another PlayStation 5 exclusive Final Fantasy game will be revealed at the show. With Tomb Raider celebrating its 25th birthday, it's hard to believe Square won't have some kind of announcement related to that franchise as well. Only time will tell.
