Dynamite Signs Rights To "Voltron" Comics

Already having published comics for space-faring properties from "Battlestar Galactica" to "Buck Rogers," it appears Dynamite Entertainment is moving its cosmic adventure comics into the '80s next.

As reported on ICv2, Dynamite has inked a deal with licensing powerhouse Classic Media to produce comics based on anime-turned-American cartoon "Voltron." Though not confirmed by the publisher, Classic Media has apparently put out a release noting the deal. If so, it would be the latest move for the perpetually in revival property which is also headed back to the small screen this year as "Voltron Force" - an animated series debuting in the coming months alongside Season 2 of Marvel's "Iron Man: Armored Adventures" on Nicktoons.

The report also notes that Dynamite's acquisition of the comic rights come after a bidding battle that also included Moonstone, who will themselves publish a Voltron art book this year. The property last saw a comics iteration from 2005 to 2008 at Devil's Due.
