Dynamite Entertainment and artist Brent Peeples have partnered up to pay homage to longtime industry contributor Rob Liefeld with six new variant covers.
All six covers reimagine a cover or book Liefeld has drawn in the past. Dejah Thoris #8 calls back to New Mutants #87, Killing Red Sonja #5 to New Mutants #98, Bettie Page #3 to New Mutants #99 and Vampirella/Red Sonja #11 to X-Force #1. Red Sonja #19 and Vampirella #14 homage X-Force #2 and #3, respectively.
Peeples worked with Liefeld on his recent Marvel book Agent X, so it makes sense that he was chosen for this task. "Man! What a kick getting to recreate these iconic Rob Liefeld covers for Dynamite!" Peeples said in a statement. "Rob's work was and still is such an influence on me, and being involved in this cover series, recreating some of his most classic and iconic work, is such an honor. I've always loved his energy on AND off the page. I just hope I did them justice and did Rob proud."
These covers are being solicited for September through Diamond Comic Distributors, and Dynamite is encouraging fans to ask their local comic book shops to pre-order if they want to get their hands on them.
