Hobbs & Shaw star Dwayne Johnson will not be returning for the next two entries in the Fast & Furious saga.

"I laughed and I laughed hard," Johnson recounted to The Hollywood Reporter regarding recent comments from Vin Diesel about the feud between the two actors. Those words were about how the animosity was apparently due to Diesel using "tough love" to get the best possible performance out of Johnson. "I think everyone had a laugh at that," Johnson said. "And I'll leave it at that. And that I've wished them well."

"I wish them well on Fast 9," Johnson continued. "And I wish them the best of luck on Fast 10 and Fast 11 and the rest of the Fast & Furious movies they do that will be without me." In the same interview, Johnson's Jungle Cruise co-star Emily Blunt added her two cents about Diesel. "Thank God he was there," she said of the F9 leading man. "Thank God. He carried you through that."

Previously, key creative participants of the Fast & Furious movies left open the possibility of Johnson returning as Luke Hobbs in further installments of the franchise. F9 director Justin Lin, for example, previously said about Hobbs and Jason Statham's Deckard Shaw appearing in Fast & Furious 10, "I never really considered them gone, you know? To me, they’re still in this universe; they’re part of this family...as we’re coming to this kind of final chapter of this saga, I think I’m excited to revisit... Any character, in any situation, is up for discussion."

Directed by Justin Lin, F9 stars Vin Diesel and is in theaters now.
