Since the concept of Warner Bros.' upcoming Black Adam neared reality, fans have been clamoring to see the DCEU's new demigod face off against Superman, who held the crown as the shared universe's most powerful being. Star Dwayne Johnson appears to agree that the Man of Steel needs to return front and center.

In an interview with Jake's Take, Johnson talked about the prospect of a Superman versus Black Adam fight and paying attention to what fans want. "Here's what I do know. Listening to the fans, when I was wrestling, always led and guided me, just like now. So, for the past 10 years, as I was pushing Black Adam up this hill to get made, for the past five, six, seven years, I was also listening to the fans at the same time, where you have Black Adam-- we would create Black Adam for him to be the most powerful and unstoppable force on this planet. The most powerful and unstoppable force in the entire universe has been on the sidelines for too long," Johnson explained, suggesting Superman.

Will Superman Return?

There has been widespread speculation that the Man of Steel will return to the DCEU in Black Adam, with actor Henry Cavill attached. The character did technically reappear in 2019's Shazam!, though his face was never shown and he had not lines. The last full appearance the superhero made in the DCEU's current canon was in 2017's Justice League. Since then, Cavill has not returned and no references to the Kryptonian have been made in the films that followed.

Across social media and in various interviews, Johnson has seemingly teased a clash between Teth-Adam and Clark Kent with similar references to Adam being the most powerful force on this planet, but not necessarily others, though he has never said outright who the most unstoppable force in the universe is.

Regardless of Kal-El's appearance in the film, Black Adam is set to encounter resistance as he attempts to inflict his rage-fueled form of justice on the world. When he rises from a 5,000 year slumber, the Kahndaqian antihero will face the Justice Society of America, comprised of Hawman, Atom Smasher, Cyclone and Doctor Fate, played by Aldis Hodge, Noah Centineo, Quintessa Swindell and Pierce Brosnan, respectively. To take down Black Adam, they will be working with the DCEU's coldest government official, Amanda Waller, once again played by Viola Davis.

Black Adam storms into theaters on Oct. 21.
