Black Adam star Dwayne Johnson has revealed that his mother, Ata Johnson, is "ok" after being involved in a horrific car crash on Wednesday, Feb. 1, that left her red Cadillac badly damaged.

The actor shared the news on his Instagram page, telling his followers, "Thank you God she’s ok. Angels of mercy watched over my mom as she was in a car crash late last night. She’ll survive and continue to get evaluated. This woman has survived lung cancer, tough marriage, head on collision with a drunk driver and attempted suicide. She’s a survivor, in ways that make angels and miracles real." Johnson also thanked authorities with the Los Angeles Police Department and Los Angeles Fire Department "for being so caring & focused" and "for staying on phone and talking me thru it all."

Johnson did not share further details of the crash but instead closed out his post by urging his followers to show love to their parents. "I got one parent left, so if you still got your mom and dad make sure you hug 'em hard, cos you never know when you’ll get that 3am call we never want to get," he wrote. The actor's father, Rocky Johnson, died in January 2020 at the age of 75 from a pulmonary embolism.

Johnson has previously spoken about the importance of family in countless interviews. The actor has also shared anecdotes and stories about his parents and upbringing in Young Rock, a popular NBC sitcom that is based on his childhood and early adult years. In the series, Johnson's parents are portrayed by Joseph Lee Anderson and Stacey Leilua.

Who Is Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson?

Johnson stars as Callum Drift, Commander of the E.L.F., in the film opposite Chris Evans' Jack O'Malley and J. K. Simmons' Santa Claus.

Johnson is also co-owner of the professional American football league, XFL, which kicks off its 2023 season on Feb. 18. He also founded the spirits brand, Teremana Tequila, and the energy drink company, ZOA Energy.
