Super-Pets animated film was first reported in July 2018, with Jared Stern, the writer of The LEGO Batman Movie and The LEGO Ninjago Movie, attached to write and direct. Stern's background in animation aside from the LEGO movies includes Bolt, The Princess and the Frog, Wreck-It Ralph, Meet the Beetles and It's a Small World. Stern's live-action work can also be seen in Dr. Ken (which he co-created), The Internship, The Watch and Mr. Popper’s Penguins.

Originally slated to be released on May 21, DC League of Super-Pets was pushed back a year to May 20, 2022, along with having its title changed from DC Super Pets.

The comic book Super-Pets also go by the Legion of Super-Pets and are a team of animals that each represent one of the high-profile superhero franchises in the DC Universe: Superman has Krypto the Superdog, Streaky the Super-Cat, Comet the Super-Horse and Beppo the Super-Monkey; Titus falls under the Batman umbrella as his son, Damian Wayne's pet dog, along with the Bat-Cow; and Storm, Aquaman's seahorse, are a few examples of who we could see on the big screen.

Directed and written by Jared Stern and co-director Sam Levine, DC League of Super-Pets arrives in theaters May 20, 2022.
