As the sequel to 2017's Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle moves into its third month of principal photography, a new behind-the-scenes photo teases a relationship between two returning characters.
Shared on star Karen Gillan's Instagram, the photo shows Gillan with co-star Dwayne Johnson on set awkwardly flirting as their characters Ruby Roundhouse and Doctor Smolder Bravestone.

That awkward moment when you are a massive teenage nerd trapped in a man killing superhero avatar and you’re trying to flirt with your high school crush who is trapped in the body of the @therock #rubyroundhouse #killerofmen #drsmolderbravestone #jumanji #atleastivegotpantsonnow 😂
The two characters are video game avatars of shy high schooler Martha Kaply and her nerdy classmate Spencer Gilpin. By the end of the 2017 film, both characters have embarked on a romantic relationship which appears to continue into the sequel.
Whereas the earlier film had its video game avatars largely exploring a tropical, jungle setting, photos from the upcoming sequel have teased a variety of new locations including a North African looking setting and Gillan's behind-the-scenes photo suggesting the characters will travel to somewhere colder judging by Gillan and Johnson's winter attire.
The Jumanji sequel will hit theaters on Dec. 13, 2019. Jake Kasdan returns to direct the movie, which stars Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Karen Gillan, Danny DeVito, Danny Glover, Alex Wolff, Ser’Darius Blain, Madison Iseman and Morgan Turner.
