Dwayne Johnson has unveiled behind-the-scenes images of his work on the upcoming Christmas movie, Red One.

The photos, uploaded to the actor's Instagram, show Johnson clad in red and black leather on a blue screen set. Also present are what appears to be a heavy piece of machinery, a half-pipe the actor is pictured sliding down and no small amount of artificial snow. "Our movie is a big, fun, action-packed and fresh new take on Christmas Lore," the star wrote in the text accompanying the post. "Think Jumanji meets Miracle on 34th St meets Hobbs & Shaw with a dash of Harry Potter and sprinkled on top with my all-time favorite Christmas movie, It's a Wonderful Life... let all that sink in."

Dwayne Johnson's Mysterious Christmas/Action Movie

Little is currently known about the upcoming blockbuster, except that it is intended to be part of a festive-themed franchise and is slated for a late 2023 release on Amazon Prime Video. Johnson, who has received plenty of attention recently for his turn as the titular DC character in Black Adam, will be appearing in Red One alongside co-star Chris Evans. An earlier Instagram post gave audiences their first look at Johnson in his striking new costume, posing -- and laughing -- alongside Evans. The post was similarly captioned with a brief teaser from Johnson, who wrote, "Chris and I have been waiting to make a Christmas movie our entire careers and now finally, the trouble begins…"

The wrestling icon and Jumanji lead has been extremely enthusiastic about the project, on which he is also a co-producer alongside Hiram Garcia and Dany Garcia, since Red One was announced in 2021. Speaking about the collaboration between the Johnson/Garcia-owned Seven Bucks Productions and Amazon Studios (currently overseen by Jennifer Salke), Johnson said, "I've been very impressed with Jen Salke and her team's vision and ambition to create an enormous, fun and unique Red One holiday universe for families around the world to enjoy."

Co-producer Hiram Garcia has been equally enthusiastic about the creative partnership. "I'm thrilled to have our Seven Bucks team join forces with Amazon to bring this fun Holiday tale to life for a global audience," he said. The team also includes Johnson's regular collaborator Chris Morgan, a writer known for his work on the Fast and Furious franchise.

Red One will release exclusively on Amazon Prime Video in late 2023. Black Adam is available for digital purchase now.
