The 1980s were a wonderful time to be a wrestling fan. It was the age of Hulk Hogan and "Rowdy" Roddy Piper, of Andre the Giant and "Macho Man" Randy Savage. There was a freaking WWF cartoon, and it was awesome.

If you're reading all of this with a shit-eating grin on your face, then you'll be very pleased to hear that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson will be teaming with Jerry Bruckheimer on a dramatic TV series set to the tune of 1980s professional wrestling. Johnson will serve as executive producer along with Bruckheimer TV. Spartacus: Gods of the Arena scribes Brent Fletcher and Seamus Kevin Fahey will write and also co-executive produce alongside Jonathan Littman and, of course, Bruckheimer and Johnson.

That's all there is to say right now. NBC has a pilot order in, though, so expect to hear more soon enough.
