Dwayne Johnson might be the busiest ass kicker in Hollywood. Not only did he make his triumphant return to professional wrestling by defeating John Cena at WrestleMania XXVIII, but he’s also filming Michael Bay’s Pain and Gain, with a pair of comic book-based movies Hercules and Ciudad and a potential third Journey installment. Now Vulture reports you can add not just another movie, but another comic adaptation to the list.
Circle of Confusion and Andrew Lazar’s Warner Bros.-based Mad Chance picked up the rights to the comic, by the husband and wife team of Ashley Wood and T.P. Louise, in July 2010. According to the website, a multimillion-dollar bidding war broke out among Hollywood studios after Johnson became attached to the project, which features a script by Cory Goodman (Priest) and Jeremy Lott.
Released in 2003 by IDW Publishing, Lore focuses on a reluctant hero who is drawn into a secret society dedicated to protecting the world from the monsters of legend.
We should know in the next few days which studio walks away with the film. After that, we’re curious to see when the intended start date is and how Lore will fit into Johnson’s already packed schedule.
