Black Adam star Dwayne Johnson just put the Black Adam versus Superman strength debate to rest.

Johnson seemingly confirmed that Henry Cavill's Man of Steel is even more powerful than Black Adam's eponymous protagonist in a video shared on Twitter. "[I thought that] if we're going to establish Black Adam as the most powerful, unstoppable force in the DC Universe, we have to bring back the most powerful, unstoppable force of all time, in any universe," he said. "You guys know who I'm talking about, of course, that is Superman, and that's Henry Cavill... there's no viable, logical way that you can attempt to build out the DC Universe with the most powerful force and the greatest superhero of all time sitting on the sidelines."

Johnson also reiterated how hard he and Seven Bucks Productions co-founder Dany Garcia and president Hiram Garcia fought to include Cavill in the movie. The star confirmed that Warner Bros. leadership at the time was adamant that Cavill would not reprise the Superman role in Black Adam, however, the Seven Bucks team ultimately got their way. The mid-credits scene featuring Cavill was apparently filmed late in production, based on comments by Hawkman actor Aldis Hodge. Hodge revealed in a recent interview that he only learned about Black Adam's Superman cameo days before the movie's premiere.

Henry Cavill Discusses His DCU Comeback

It wasn't just Cavill's co-stars who were in the dark about his DC Universe comeback, either. Fans were also convinced that rumors of his return were untrue after he failed to appear at San Diego Comic-Con 2022. Cavill has since opened up about how he dealt with fans' negative reaction, knowing all the while that he was secretly locked in for Black Adam. "I was just like, 'Ah, I’m just going to have to ride this one out and see what happens.' Then, everyone was so disappointed, and I was like, 'Okay, patience, patience, it will come,'" he said.

Cavill has also spoken about what it felt like to slip into Superman's iconic red-and-blue suit again, describing it as a "meaningful" experience. He also revealed that he was given the choice of which version of the Last Son of Krypton's threads he wanted to wear and immediately went with the costume he wore in 2013's Man of Steel.

Black Adam is available on digital now and on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K on Jan. 3.
