As the fallout of Sony and Disney's Spider-Man deal coming to an end continues to be a hot topic on social media, an unlikely third party has entered the fray: Durex Condoms. (Yes, Really.)
Amid all the drama and repercussions, the official Twitter account of Durex India shared a post voicing support for the #SaveSpiderMan campaign. The tweet features the aforementioned hashtag, as well as a web-themed red graphic featuring Spidey's eyes upside-down with a single tear dropping. The company stays true to the brand by giving the tweet a tongue-in-cheek sexual nature.
In the timely tweet, the graphic states, "The end came too soon? The feeling is mutual." It incorporates #SaveSpiderMan into the Spider-Man themed graphic.
Durex's response taps into the sentiment many Marvel and Spider-Man fans feel about the situation. With fans staging protests against Sony, the #SaveSpiderMan campaign is making real waves with #SonyisOverParty trending and a petition with over 500,000 signatures. Recently, Stan Lee's daughter Joan sided with Sony in the ordeal.
Now in theaters, director Jon Watts’ Spider-Man: Far From Home stars Tom Holland, Samuel L. Jackson, Zendaya, Cobie Smulders, Jon Favreau, JB Smoove, Jacob Batalon and Martin Starr, with Marisa Tomei and Jake Gyllenhaal.
