Wizards of the Coasts revealed what players can expect from Dungeons & Dragons' upcoming adventure The Wilds Beyond the Witchlight adventure.

The Wild Beyond the Witchlight brings a dark whimsy to the world of Dungeons & Dragons as players adventure out into the mysterious Feywild, a land populated by powerful magical creatures. Beyond the setting, the adventure introduces a host of new mechanical features and sees the return of classic characters to Dungeons & Dragons Fifth Edition.

"Once every eight years, the fantastic Witchlight Carnival touches down on your world, bringing joy to one settlement after the next. Its owners, Mister Witch and Mister Light, know how to put on a good show. But there’s more to this magical extravaganza than meets the eye!" reads the description of The Wild Beyond the Witchlight.

Thanks to the Witchlight Carnival, players will be able to experience the magic of the Feywild as they fight the wicked villainy of the Hourglass Coven. Players will be to create characters using one of two new races: Faeries and the harengon (rabbit folk). Beyond that, two new backgrounds, Feylost and the Witchlight Hand, further expand on the roleplaying possibilities offered by the new adventure.

"This adventure, unlike some of our previous adventures, is really designed to launch from whatever world you, as the Dungeon Master, consider to be the homeworld for your campaign, " explains Chris Perkins, the principal story designer for Dungeons & Dragons.

Wizards of the Coast confirmed that all encounters featured in The Wild Beyond the Witchlight will have both combat and non-combat options. This design decision was intentionally made to ensure players have room to experiment and role-play while giving Dungeon Masters an opportunity to explore and expand on the game.
