The Chris Pine-led Dungeons & Dragons movie has added Michelle Rodriguez and Justice Smith to its cast.

The film -- a joint venture from Hasbro/eOne and Paramount Pictures -- cast Pine as the lead in December 2020. The film will be directed and written by Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley, but plot details remain scarce.

Dungeons & Dragons, based on the tabletop roleplaying game that has captivated players for decades, has had a long journey to the screen a second time after 2000's Dungeons & Dragons from New Line failed to impress audiences and critics alike. In 2015, Warner Bros. secured the film rights and announced a move towards adapting the game, with Ansel Elgort expected to star. That ultimately fell through, with Paramount scooping up the rights thanks to its production deal with Hasbro.

The new film will be directed by Goldstein and Daley, who took over scriptwriting duties from Michael Gilio. They'll be joined by former Marvel producer Jeremy Latcham, who left the MCU for eOne, Hasbro's media entertainment arm.

Dungeons & Dragons joins other previously announced Hasbro movies Micronauts and Snake Eyes.

Written and directed by Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley, Dungeons & Dragons stars Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez and Justice Smith. The film arrives in theaters May 27, 2022.
