If you've ever wanted to see Jeff Goldblum play Dungeons & Dragons, your wish will soon be granted, as the actor will be voicing a character in an upcoming season of the actual-play podcast Dark Dice.

According to Deadline, Goldblum -- known for his portrayal of The Grandmaster in Thor: Ragnarok and as Jurassic Park's Ian Malcolm -- will be playing an elven sorcerer named Balmur in the audio series' second season.

Dark Dice is an unscripted audio series that, according to the series' creators, uses "soundscapes for an added layer of immersion" to the horror-inspired story. Goldblum will be one of six players who will voice and improvise the narrative over the course of a multi-episode Dungeons & Dragons tabletop campaign. The story will evolve alongside the campaign, changing with the roll of the dice. The official Dark Dice Twitter account also showed off character art for Balmur, whose appearance is directly modeled after Goldblum himself.

The story will find Goldblum's Balmur and his allies seeking revenge against the core cast of Dark Dice's first season (Domain of the Nameless God), who failed to save the world. Even bleaker, Balmur's team will be stalked by The Silent One, a deceptive monster capable of stealing the face and voice of its victims. Despite ties to plot points from the first season, the production team has stated that knowledge of the previous episodes is not required. The series will feature a diverse internal cast and fully orchestrated soundtrack, with choir arrangements Icelandic, Elvish and even Infernal. The new episodes will be dropping monthly on all major podcasting platforms beginning May 12, with Goldblum's character first appearing in the episode "Chapter 1B."

Dark Dice is helmed by a husband and wife duo and funded via Patreon. Kaitlin Statz acts as writer, with Travis Vengroff as producer and editor under the Fool & Scholar Productions banner.

This is the latest in Goldblum's long and diverse career after appearing in Thor: Ragnarok and hosting Disney+ original series The World According to Jeff Goldblum, which was renewed for a second season last year. He is also set to reprise his role as Dr. Ian Malcom with Jurassic World: Dominion, releasing on June 22, 2022..
