With word today that Warner Bros., Hasbro and Sweetpea Entertainment have resolved the long-disputed film rights to "Dungeons & Dragons," the studio is moving ahead with its adaptation of the role-playing game.

According to Variety, David Leslie Johnson ("The Conjuring 2") has already written a screenplay set set in the "D&D" campaign "Forgotten Realms." Hasbro, Sweatpea and "The LEGO Movie's" Roy Lee are set to produce.

"We are so excited about bringing the world of 'Dungeons & Dragons' to life on the big screen," Greg Silverman, Warner Bros.' president of creative development and worldwide production, said in a statement."This is far and away the most well-known brand in fantasy, which is the genre that drives the most passionate film followings. 'D&D' has endless creative possibilities, giving our filmmakers immense opportunities to delight and thrill both fans and moviegoers new to the property."

Hasbro filed a copyright- and trademark-infringement lawsuit in 2013 against Sweetpea, producer of the unsuccessful 2000 "D&D" movie and two U.K. direct-to-DVD sequels, saying they didn't meet the requirements to retain the film rights. The production company fired back, claiming the toymaker was merely trying to wrestle away the rights from Sweetpea and Warner Bros. to hand to Universal Pictures, with whom Hasbro was then partnered.

The lawsuit made its way to court last September.
