Paramount and eOne's Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves has surpassed John Wick: Chapter 4 at the domestic box office in its opening weekend.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Honor Among Thieves grossed $15.3 million on Friday, which also includes the $5.6 million earned in preview screenings. At the moment, the action-adventure film is on track for a $40 million opening weekend, which would knock John Wick: Chapter 4 from the top box office spot to the second. At the moment, the fourth John Wick installment is expected to bring in an estimated $29 million in its second weekend in theaters after an opening of $73.8 million.

Both the newest John Wick installment and Honor Among Thieves were expected to duke it out at the box office since both films were released in theaters within a week of each other: John Wick on March 24 and the D&D adaptation on March 31. Initially, Honor Among Thieves was expected to fall short of John Wick: Chapter 4, particularly when its preview earnings were well under those of the Keanu Reeves-led action film, which grossed $8.9 million in Thursday previews. At the time of writing, the John Wick sequel has earned $122.6 million at the domestic box office, with a worldwide total of $169.2 million.

Honor Among Thieves Dominates the Box Office

The film follows a charming thief and a band of adventurers as they embark on an epic quest to retrieve a lost relic.
