Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far From Home star Zendaya is set to play Chani -- the Fremen love interest of Paul Atreides -- in the upcoming Dune film. Zendaya has now revealed what excites her about that role.
During the debut event for the Dune trailer, host Stephen Colbert asked Zendaya what most excited her about playing Chani. "She's tough, right? She's a warrior. She's native to this planet. This is all she knows, and so this kind of, you know, other kid coming in, she's not really feeling it. But she sees something in him that is obviously an indicator of what is to come."

As a result of the book's success, Herbert released Dune Messiah in 1969, Children of Dune in 1976, God Emperor of Dune in 1981, Heretics of Dune in 1984 and Chapterhouse: Dune in 1985. Since Herbert's death in 1986, his son Brian Herbert and writer Kevin J. Anderson have penned several books and series set in the Dune universe.
