With pre-production in full swing on Denis Villeneuve's cinematic reboot of Dune, a major actor from the Marvel Cinematic Universe has reportedly auditioned for a key role.

Zendaya has been approached and tested for the role of Chani, the love interest of the film's protagonist Paul Atreides, portrayed by Timothee Chalamet.

If cast, Zendaya would be third MCU actor to join the upcoming reboot, following Thor's Stellan Skarsgard being cast as the film's primary antagonist and Guardians of the Galaxy's Dave Bautista being cast as the secondary antagonist, Glossu Raban. This marks the second collaboration between Bautista and Villeneuve after appearing the filmmaker's previous film, Blade Runner 2049. Coincidentally, Chani had previously been portrayed in the original 1984 film by Sean Young, who appeared in the original Blade Runner and reprised her role in the 2017 sequel through digital doubles and soundalike voice actors.

Earlier this week, Oscar Isaac had been approached to portray Paul's father and is reportedly in final negotiations to potentially take on the role.
