Director Denis Villeneuve has added Léa Seydoux to the cast of Dune: Part Two.

According to Deadline, Léa Seydoux has joined the cast of Warner Bros. and Legendary’s upcoming sequel to 2021's Dune. The actor will play Lady Margot, who is depicted as a long-standing servant of the Sisterhood in author Frank Herbert's 1965 science-fiction novel. Seydoux recently appeared in David Cronenberg’s Crimes of the Future, which opened in theaters earlier this month. Other recent credits include roles in Wes Anderson’s The French Dispatch and the latest James Bond film, No Time To Die. She will be seen next in the French-German drama film One Fine Morning, which earned her rave reviews from critics when it debuted at the Cannes Film Festival in May.

Other newcomers for Dune: Part Two include Black Widow's Florence Pugh, Batman Returns' Christopher Walken and Elvis' Austin Butler, who will play Princess Irulan, the daughter of the emperor; Emperor Shaddam IV, known in the novels as the last Padishah Emperor of the Corrino Empire; and Feyd-Rautha, of House Harkonnen, respectively. The rest of the sequel's all-star ensemble includes Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Zendaya, Josh Brolin and Jason Momoa, who are all reprising their respective roles from the first film.

Production on Dune: Part Two is expected to start in the fall with the cast already preparing for the shoot. Brolin revealed back in April that he and Momoa were "in panic diet mode" after they realized they had put on "a little bit of a paunch" since filming concluded on the first Dune film. "And we talked to [director Denis Villeneuve]. [...] He was like, 'You guys are fighting the whole time. And you've been in the desert with the Fremen and all that,'" Brolin recalled at the time. "And we fucking panicked. We looked down and saw this little friend that we've been holding on our abdomen. So we were both on full diet mode at the Oscars, even though you absolutely couldn't tell."

Dune: Part Two will begin immediately after the events of Part One and will adapt the second half of Herbert's 1965 novel. Villeneuve returned to the director's chair for the sequel and co-wrote the film's screenplay with Jon Spaihts. The acclaimed director previously teased the sequel's immense complexity. He stated that filming Part Two would probably "be the biggest challenge of my career, again, because it's even more complex than Part One." The film is scheduled to open in theaters on Oct. 20, 2023.
