It's a great time to be a DuckTales fan.
During a panel at Comic-Con International in San Diego, the creators of Disney's reboot introduced a surprise guest in Lin-Manuel Miranda, much to the shock and delight of fans in attendance. Miranda has been a part of the show since Season 1, providing the voice for Gizmoduck, but this marks his first SDCC appearance joining the cast of DuckTales. Miranda's inclusion on the panel wasn't the only surprise they had lined up, however.
Matt Youngberg and Frank Angones also revealed a poster (through Entertainment Weekly) crammed with DuckTales characters, both old and new, that can be expected to appear in forthcoming seasons of the show.
Daisy Duck and Goofy join Chip, Dale and Monterey Jack from The Rescue Rangers, as well as Kit and Molly from TaleSpin, and Gosalyn Mallard from Darkwing Dark in making appearances on the poster. They appear side-by-side with Donald Duck, Huey, Dewey, Louie, and the rest of the show's familiar faces.
Youngberg and Angones have sprinkled numerous subtle inclusions and references from Rescue Rangers, TaleSpin, and Darkwing Duck into their show, including the introduction of characters like Drake Mallard and Don Karnage. These teases would have left a distinct impression on fans, suggesting that it would only be a matter of time until characters from these beloved '90s shows appeared.
