WARNING: The following contains spoilers for DuckTales Season 3, Episode 12, "Let's Get Dangerous," which aired on Disney XD and Disney Now

Throughout the third season of DuckTales, the nefarious F.O.W.L. has been operating behind the scenes, trying to take control of the most powerful company in the world. Their mission just got a whole lot more complicated in Episode 12 "Let's Get Dangerous."

Scrooge and his family finally discover the truth of F.O.W.L.'s machinations against them -- and the most surprising reveal is that Scrooge's own board of directors are among the group's leaders.

Introduced in the final moments of DuckTales Season 2, the new incarnation of F.O.W.L. is made up of enemies who'd previously crossed paths with this version of the McDuck family. These include renegade scientist Black Heron and Scrooge's old financial rival, John Rockerduck, along with reinventions of classic Disney antagonists, including Steelbeak and the Phantom Blot.

The organization is run by Bradford Buzzard and the rest of the Board of Directors for McDuck Enterprises. Having infiltrated Scrooge's business, they've been trying to steer the elderly billionaire towards accomplishing their goals without him even realizing it.

However, following the near-destruction of the Earth during the events of the Moonlite Invasion, the Board of Directors decide it's time for the group to move in a more proactive direction. Working together, they intend to bring down the McDuck family once and for all, ensuring that they continue to be the genuine power players in this world.

They've been moving in secret throughout Season 3, with several minor confrontations against the McDuck family and their assorted allies. Despite this, the family has been largely unaware of the forces operating against them. Even when Launchpad discovered the truth, the knowledge was lost in the depths of his mind when he was blasted by Black Heron's intelligence-affecting ray.

After the events of "Let's Get Dangerous," the truth has been revealed. Traveling to St. Canard to investigate the experimentations of F.O.W.L. scientist Taurus Bulba, Bradford Buzzard is shocked to discover that not only has Bulba been continuing his work despite the risk it poses to the world, but Bulba is more than willing to turn on F.O.W.L. now that they've attempted to end his experiments. Buzzard is captured and is reluctantly forced to escape alongside Huey, Dewey and Louie.

Throughout the escape, he keeps acting suspicious and eventually pitches all three of them through the reality-bending ramrod after they discover the truth about his loyalty. This traps them alongside their Uncle Scrooge in an alternate dimension as Buzzard tries to make his escape.

However, before he can get away, the day is saved by Darkwing Duck, Launchpad and Gosayln, who free Scrooge and the boys. As Buzzard climbs aboard a helicopter piloted by Black Heron, Scrooge and the triplets come across him. Noticing his old enemy Black Heron as well as the large F.O.W.L. insignia on the helicopter, Scrooge finally realizes the truth: Some of his oldest enemies having infiltrated his business.

An enraged Buzzard yells at Scrooge and promises F.O.W.L. will win in the end, with Black Heron flying him away to an undisclosed location. Despite the fact that Buzzard escapes, this could still be seen as a major loss for the criminal organization. Their ability to move in the shadows around Scrooge and his adventures was their best advantage, keeping him from realizing the scope of their plans.

This also means F.O.W.L. will likely be more willing to operate publicly now. Considering Phantom Blot came close to murdering Lena and Steelbeak showed a willingness to kill all of DuckBurg if it meant achieving a meaningless victory over Launchpad, this might mean F.O.W.L. will take their fight with the McDucks further than ever before. The McDuck family's world-wide adventure could have more desperate and dangerous stakes than ever before.
