The Disney Channel’s DuckTales reboot keeps bringing in the big names, and this time the series will get an Academy Award-nominated actor in the form of Don Cheadle. Cheadle will bring his masterful acting skills, which can be seen in projects like Avengers: Infinity War and House of Lies, to voice one of the most important characters in the history of cartoons -- Donald Duck.
DuckTales fans needn’t worry, though. The series’ usual Donald voice actor, Tony Anselmo, isn’t going anywhere. Instead, Cheadle’s role will be focused on performing Donald’s “intelligible voice.” A press release states that the reason for the suddenly intelligible Donald will be an “inventive voicebox.”
"It's an awesome opportunity because there are only so many roles that you look forward to playing as an actor,” Cheadle said. “You've got to do your homework and bring your a-game when you're trying to voice Donald Duck."
Cheadle is slated to make his DuckTales debut in the show’s season finale, titled “The Shadow War!” The episode will see Magica De Spell get closer than ever to exacting revenge on Scrooge McDuck. The family will have to race against time if they want to save Scrooge from certain doom.
DuckTales’ hour-long season finale, “The Shadow War!,” will air on the Disney Channel on Aug. 18 at 9:30 am EDT. The finale will also see the return of Lin Manuel-Miranda as Fenton Crackshell-Cabrera (aka Gizmoduck), Catherine Tate as Magica De Spell and Kimiko Glenn as Lena.
