In a happy birthday tweet to co-star Gillian Anderson, David Duchovny has given "The X-Files" fans their own present. A possible confirmation that he -- and likely Anderson and creator Chris Carter -- will be back for more bizarre cases as Special Agent Fox Mulder. The tweet seemingly backs up previous rumors about bringing the fan-favorite series back a second time, and just may take them one step further.

Happy Birthday, Gillian. If you see Dana, tell her Fox says she might wanna polish up the ol' badge soon-ish. Love, D— David Duchovny (@davidduchovny) August 9, 2016

While Fox has not confirmed if another "X-Files" event will be appearing anytime soon, the idea has been discussed, both publicly and with the series' principles, on more than one occasion since the 2015 revival series wrapped. up and on the table for some time. Duchovny's tweet, paired with Fox TV Co-Chair Gary Newman's recent comments at the Television Critics Association fall preview -- in which it was revealed the network was in "significant talks" with the show's leads and Carter -- may not point to a clear answer regarding when the show will return, but it does keep the faith alive for those true believers out there to continue their support for the unsolved mysteries investigated by Mulder and Scully.

No matter what is decided on by the network, one thing's for certain: Duchovny and Anderson's love for their long-time roles is as strong as ever.:

If the "X-Files" does indeed return, the show is slated to appear on Fox for the 2017-2018 broadcast year. The truth for this release date is out there, and this public note to Scully and fans confirms that we may find it very soon.
