While production continues on The Dragon Prince Season 4, Netflix's beloved original animated series is opening its upcoming tabletop RPG for a public playtest this February.

Developed by Fandom in partnership with Wonderstorm, the studio behind the acclaimed television series, The Dragon Prince: Tales of Xadia is opening up free access to those that sign up for the Tales of Xadia newsletter. Early access begins Feb. 9, with those that participate having the opportunity to provide feedback towards the final game's development. The cover to the game's official handbook, a new location added to the fan-favorite fantasy world and map of Xadia are below.

While an official release date has not been announced for the tabletop game, it is expected to make its full debut later this year. Coinciding with the public playtest launch, preorders for Tales of Xadia will also begin on Feb. 9. With the handbook and digital supplementary aids, players will be able to forge and break their own alliances in the fantasy world based on The Dragon Prince, completing epic adventures as their own characters through might, magic and a well-met dice roll based on the tabletop Cortex rules system.

The tabletop RPG comes as part of The Dragon Prince's expansion from its animation roots, with the franchise launching prose novels, art books and in-continuity graphic novels continuing the saga of Xadia and the memorable characters therein. The series itself has been renewed for four additional seasons to complete the epic story that launched in 2018.

Created by Aaron Ehasz and Justin Richmond and featuring the voices of Jack DeSena as Callum, Sasha Rojen as Ezran, Paula Burrows as Rayla, Jesse Inocalla as Soren, Racquel Belmonte as Claudia, Luc Roderique as King Harrow of Katolis and Jason Simpson as Viren, the first three seasons of The Dragon Prince are available now on Netflix.
