Dragon Ball Z Kai is a modified and condensed version of Dragon Ball Z. It depicts Goku's journey all the way up to his battle against Buu. It was done on the 2oth anniversary of Dragon Ball, and the series was well-received due to notable improvements.

Toei Animation commissioned new voice acting, as well as made brilliant sound, higher definition pictures, more fluid animation, and impressive sound effect changes. 10 Goku's New Technique, Instant Movement! Special Training Staked on 3 Years from Now: Score 7.3

Upon returning to Earth from Namek, Goku learns of an attack that will take place three years from now, from a mysterious young man. After reuniting with the Z fighters, he informs them of this as well as how he managed to escape Namek alive. After this, he informs them about a new technique he learned on his journey back to earth, the Instant Transmission.

The Z fighters then go off to train in preparation for this incoming battle. The remainder of the episode shows glimpses of the training and hardship our heroes had to go through to get stronger. Special credit goes to Gohan and Vegeta for pushing themselves beyond their limits in order to become stronger.

9 The Star Performer Takes the Stage! Take Down the Demon King: Score 7.3

After Goku's re-emergence, both Recoome and Burter are easily wiped out. This prompts Goku to turn his attention elsewhere, much t0 Vegeta's annoyance.

Vegeta pleads with Goku to finish off the deadly members of the Ginyu force before continuing whatever mission he's on. After Goku refuses, Vegeta heads off in another location to continue his personal vendetta against Frieza. Ginyu and Jeice quickly head over to Goku and when Captain Ginyu gets a reading of Goku's power level, he is incredibly shocked by how high it is.

8 THE TEARS PICCOLO SHED, SON GOKU'S FURIOUS COUNTERATTACK: Score 7.4

This is an emotional episode of Dragon Ball Z Kai, where Piccolo sacrifices himself for the greater good of the world. This sacrifice was very interesting, considering the hatred and evil intent that Piccolo once had for the world. However, in his final moments, he was fighting to protect everything he once fought against.

Gohan does his best to try and avenge his teacher but, in the end, he wasn't strong enough to be of much help. Before he's hurt too severely, Goku returns to save him and the rest of the Z fighters.

7 TWO REMAIN ON A VANISHING PLANET! THE FINAL SHOWDOWN: Score 7.4

As Namek collapses, Super Saiyan Goku and Frieza continue their bitter confrontation without either fighter giving up so much as an inch. In the meantime, Bulma, Piccolo, Gohan, and Vegeta, who all managed to escape Namek, sit on anther planet recuperating while waiting on the fight to conclude.

In another location, King Kai provides a progress report to a few of the Z fighters who are on his planet. With Frieza becoming increasingly weak due to fatigue, Goku begins to lose interest in the battle and attempts to leave, but Frieza feels humiliated by this assertion and continues the fight due to rage.

6 DODORIA'S TERRIFYING PURSUIT! VEGETA LEARNS THE TRUTH: Score 7.5

After Dodoria corners the Namekian citizens in their village, the elder steps in and confronts him. Initially, he does a good job of defending his people, but when Frieza orders Dodorio to get more serious, he quickly manages to defeat the citizens and their leader. Noticing this, Gohan jumps in to help.

Though acting quickly and decisively, they get the drop on Dodorio and manage to escape quickly with Dende. Dodorio's search for the trio lands him at the feet of Vegeta, who continues his vengeance against Frieza by taking out one of his men.

5 POWER UP, KRILLIN! FRIEZA'S NAGGING PREMONITION: Score 7.5

As Zarbon and Vegeta battle, Dende and Krillin race across Namek to find the last dragon ball before the enemies can get to it.

Dende points Krillin to a mysterious mountain where they meet a Namekian elder. This elder provides them with the one-star dragon ball and, with a mysterious power, he "unlocks" Krillin's potential, making him stronger than ever.

In another location in Namek, Bulma and Gohan have managed to track down a dragon ball that was in Vegeta's possession.

4 VEGETA'S COVERT MANEUVER! A TRAGIC ASSAULT ON THE NAMEKIAN'S: Score 7.6

After defeating Dodoria, Vegeta learns of the presence of a couple of Earthlings on Namek. He does his best to shake this off, but secretly, their presence bothers him. Vegeta decides its in his best interest to not focus on them, and so he carries on with his mission.

As Vegeta closes down on a Namekian village in search of a dragon ball, the elder of the village claimed he could sense the power of an overwhelmingly evil force. Vegeta then arrives and beats all the village's warriors before leaving with the dragon ball.

3 A POWERFUL NEW FOE! FRIEZA, RULER OF THE UNIVERSE: Score 7.7

The episode begins with Bulma, lamenting her extreme boredom, as she travels to Namek with Gohan and Krillin. While she complains, the two engage in what appears to be a mental fight.

After the battle on Earth, Vegeta fled to another planet Vegeta to recuperate. After his recovery, he heads for Namek but, before he does, he learns that Frieza is also on the way to Namek in order to retrieve the dragon balls.

Back on Earth, Goku quickly recovers from his wounds and starts getting prepared to go join his friends on Namek. After landing on Namek, Krillin and the Z fighters spot Vegeta, much to their worry.

2 THE REBELLION AGAINST FRIEZA! VEGETA'S BURNING AMBITION: Score 7.7

As the episode opens, Frieza's minions bring yet another dragon ball to him, meaning he's so far collected four of the seven needed to summon Shenron and have him grant his wish.

Back at the ship, Krillin and Gohan are attacked by Frieza's thugs, who assumed they were weak due to them hiding their true power levels. Back at Frieza's base, Dodorio and Zarbon are in a panic after learning that Vegeta has only grown stronger since betraying Frieza. Back on Earth, Goku breaks free of his cast and bandages and prepares to leave for Namek.

1 FOR THOSE WHOM HE LOVES: Score 7.7

Nothing Vegeta throws at Majin Buu is capable of doing much damage. Trunks, Goten and Piccolo watch on as the Prince of Sayain continues to struggle, even in his powerful Majin form.

After this, Vegeta pays attention to his surroundings and, after noticing that both Gohan and Goku were out cold, Vegeta decides to make the ultimate sacrifice in order to defeat Majin Buu. After saying goodbye to his son, he goes into battle with Buu and self destructs in an attempt to bring down his opponent.
