Even die hard Dragon Ball fans have to admit that Universe 7 got a little lucky in the Tournament of Power. Jiren from Universe 11 was without a doubt the favorite to win the Tournament of Power. From the beginning of the tournament it was clear that Jiren would overpower Goku in the end. Still, the Saiyan warrior from Earth put on an incredible display of power and defeated Jiren with the help of his allies.
If it weren't for the combined strength of universe 7, Goku and the rest of the Z Fighters would have surely fallen to Jiren. Even die hard fans have to admit that Universe 7 was lucky to have defeated Jiren and the rest of the Pride Troopers. On a number of occasions, Jiren and his team could have secured the victory.
10 Attacking Early While Universe 7 Was Unprepared
Even with Gohan calling the shots, Universe 7 struggled to always stick to a sound strategy. The plan was to stick together, and fight like a team. Thanks to Goku's antics, Universe 7 had a target on their back which meant teamwork was the only logical way to approach the tournament.
Still, Goku charged into battle in his base form without the slightest bit of hesitation. If enough of the powerful foes that conserved their energy until the finale would have joined the assault on Universe 7 when the tournament started, Goku surely would have been overwhelmed, guaranteeing Jiren's victory.
9 Teaming Up With The Pride Troopers
Universe 11 came into the Tournament of Power with an extremely overpowered team. The Pride Troopers may present themselves like a reincarnated Ginyu Force, but their power levels make Recoome and Ginyu look like weaklings.
If Jiren had managed to team up with literally any other member of the Pride Troopers, he could have defeated Goku and Universe 7. At different points throughout the tournament the pride troopers threatened a number of powerful combatants from Universe 7. If Jiren would have helped them, he could have easily won the tournament.
8 Evil Containment Wave
The Evil Containment Wave is a technique that Master Roshi uses throughout the Tournament of Power. While it is never made clear that Jiren is able to use the technique, it is an ability that allows a weaker foe to trap an enemy who far surpasses them in strength.
If Jiren or any other participant in the Tournament of Power could have managed to eliminate Goku with the Evil Containment Wave, Jiren and Universe 11 would have easily walked away as victors.
7 Using Ribrianne As An Ally
Ribrianne is a powerful warrior from Universe 2 that enhances their strength with the power of love. It may sound like a joke, but this participant managed to push Goku, Vegeta, and Android 17 to their limits at different times throughout the tournament.
In fact, before Goku and Jiren fought for the first time in the Tournament of Power, Goku was struggling to eliminate Ribrianne. Goku is lucky that Ribrianne didn't stick around during his fight with Jiren, or he would have quickly been eliminated.
6 Teaming Up With Toppo
Most fans of Dragon Ball Super will always remember Toppo as the first character to undergo training as a God of Destruction. All of the Destroyers introduced before Toppo have experience wielding the power of destruction, but the Pride Trooper has only recently begun his training.
If Jiren had ever managed to coordinate a single attack with Toppo, he surely would have walked away from the Tournament of Power as the last man standing.
5 Traditional Tournament Rules
Throughout three different Dragon Ball series, fans have come to expect overdramatic tournament arcs. It is such a standard of the series that the creators have been forced to get creative with the way it plots its many different martial arts tournaments.
If the Tournament of Power was bracketed like the original Martial Arts Tournaments from Dragon Ball, Jiren would have had no trouble fighting his way up to the top. Furthermore, without the Battle Royal format, Goku never would have been able to warmup against the overpowered Pride Trooper. If this were the case, Jiren would have easily defeated Goku.
4 Teaming Up With Dyspo
Dyspo is the speedster that the Dragon Ball series has always needed. The purple haired Pride Trooper from universe 11 was able to move faster than nearly every member of Team Goku.
Considering how quickly Goku can travel with his Instant Transmission, Dyspo's speed is nothing to ignore. If Jiren and Dyspo had mounted some sort of joint attack against Universe 7, the tournament could have ended much differently.
3 Eliminating Goku After Ultra Instinct
On four different occasions, Goku tapped into the power of Ultra Instinct and went toe to toe with Jiren. Each time Goku borrowed from the power of the gods, he pushed Jiren to his limits, but failed to knock him from the ring.
If Jiren had been wise enough to make sure Goku fell from the ring after he was exhausted by Ultra Instinct, he could have easily defeated the rest of the contestants from Universe 7 with the remaining time.
2 A Potara Fusion With Toppo Or Dyspo
When two powerful Saiyan warriors from Universe 6 fuse with the Potara earrings, the tournament rules are altered to allow for fusion. Even if it ruined Jiren's solo act, it could have guaranteed the overpowered pride trooper and whoever was lucky enough to fuse with him the victory.
Fans can imagine the combined power of Jiren and Toppo, but what about a fusion between Jiren and Dyspo. Perhaps even Toppo and Dyspo could have fused to serve as the appropriately powerful henchmen that Jiren needed to succeed.
1 Prioritizing Android 17 Or Frieza
Considering Jiren's incredible power, it makes no sense that he didn't choose to go on the offensive before the final seconds of the tournament. If the powerful Pride Trooper had managed to knock out Android 17 or Frieza before using all his might against Goku, he would have surely succeeded in the end.
Though Goku ate up most of Jiren's time during the tournament, it was Frieza and Android 17 that guaranteed his defeat. If Jiren had been on the offensive, he could have eliminated any and all threats independently before they had the chance to team up on him.
