New story details have been revealed about "Dragon Ball Super," the franchise's first new television anime in 18 years.

While we already knew the series is set a few years after the defeat of the planet-destroying Majin Buu/Majin Boo, the August issue of Shueisha's "V Jump" magazine now provides a synopsis of the first episode:

After defeating Majin Buu, life is peaceful once again. Ordered by Chi-chi to earn money, Goku works even as he wants to train even more. Meanwhile, Goten, about to become a brother-in-law to Videl, sets out on a journey with Trunks to find her a present.

Anime News Network adds that the series will contain plot elements that tie into the recent "Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F'" movie; Whis and Beerus from “Dragon Ball Z: Battle of the Gods” and “Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection ‘F,'” shown in the promo art released Monday, will appear as regular characters. “Dragon Ball” creator Akira Toriyama is credited with  the show's “original story and character concepts.”

"Dragon Ball Super" will make it Japanese debut Sunday, July 5, on Fuji TV and other channels; a manga adaptation, drawn by “Dragon Ball Heroes: Victory Mission” author Toyotarō, will run in “V Jump."
