It's been incredibly satisfying for both longtime fans and complete newcomers to experience Dragon Ball Super's extension of Akira Toriyama's iconic shonen universe. The story of Goku and company as they protect the Earth from evil has been decades in the making, and there are some extremely powerful individuals who have presented themselves.
It's impressive to look at how much Goku and his friends have grown since the beginning and the thrilling battles that have put their strength to the test. Dragon Ball Super highlights lots of variety, but there are some individuals who are long overdue to face each other in battle.
10 Monaka Fighting Hercule Satan Can Determine The Weakest Of The Weak
A running joke throughout Dragon Ball Super is that Beerus uses Monaka, a mundane delivery worker, to motivate Goku to train harder. Monaka isn't just an average fighter, but he seems to be actively weak and with subpar strength. Hercule Satan is a character with a similar background of embellishment and manipulation, even if he's not as dire of a case. A battle between these two weaklings would be fascinating and they'd perhaps spend the whole encounter trying to think up strategies to avoid combat rather than actually trade blows.
9 Kefla Versus Vegito Pits Fused Powerhouses Against Each Other
Dragon Ball Super brings a number of new Saiyans into the mix, courtesy of Universe 6. Kale and Caulifla show off their powerful fusion, Kefla, who is one of the heaviest hitters in the Tournament of Power and nearly wins the whole thing. Goku and Vegeta both test Kefla’s strength individually, but it'd be thrilling to get a fused Saiyan showdown between them, with either Vegito or Gogeta. The two would actually be able to engage in a fair fight and have at each other without holding back.
8 A Tien & Yamcha Showdown Is Long Overdue
Dragon Ball has progressively moved away from its human characters as the level of danger has reached greater heights. Dragon Ball Super's Tournament of Power finds a way to bring neglected characters like Tien, Roshi, and Krillin back into play, but Yamcha remains a running joke who doesn’t receive redemption.
It'd be very enjoyable to see Tien try to mentor Yamcha and bring him up to his level. These two could have a really exciting battle under the right circumstances, like when Goku helps train Krillin.
7 Piccolo's Battle Brilliance Meets Its Match With Hit
Universe 6 is full of some formidable fighters, but Hit may be the apex of their strength due to his resilient Time Skip attack. A lot of people from Universe 7 get to face off against Hit, first in the Tournament of Destroyers and then the Tournament of Power, but never Piccolo. Piccolo is one of the smarter fighters out there and he'd probably fare well against this difficult opponent. Hit's fights with Saiyans are far from boring, but he and Piccolo share a certain energy that would be amazing if it were to collide.
6 Gotenks Against Future Trunks Creates A Fascinating Paradox
Gotenks is a big deal when Dragon Ball Z ends since he's the only character besides Goku that can turn into Super Saiyan 3. Dragon Ball Super sidelines Goten and Trunks, but there are some fun opportunities that they've missed when Future Trunks was around. It's poignant to see Trunks connect with his future self, but he's far too weak to take him on in battle. Gotenks could actually stand a chance against Future Trunks and it'd be special for these two versions of the same individual to compete. It'd make for a fascinating battle, regardless of the victor.
5 Cabba & Goten Can Fight For Young Saiyan Supremacy
Universe 6's Saiyans have a ton of potential and show a ton of growth in very little time. However, it's largely Goku and Vegeta who spend time with them and impart knowledge on the ways of the Super Saiyan. Cabba doesn't look to be that much older than Goten and it actually makes a lot of sense for these two to face each other and build a friendship.
There's a fascinating counterpoint between these two that the series hasn't explored, but hopefully won't be completely ignored. Cabba and Goten deserve to meet.
4 Krillin Can Get Closure By A Battle With Frieza
Dragon Ball Super brings Frieza back in a very big way, initially as an enemy and then as a reluctant ally during the Tournament of Power. There's still some tension between Krillin and Frieza on account of how the evil tyrant took Krillin's life. Dragon Ball Super could provide Krillin necessary closure through a battle against Frieza, but no such thing happens. Krillin faces Frieza's Galactic Army and the return of Ginyu, but he never fights Frieza. This stings even more considering that Frost, the alternate Frieza, is who eliminates him from the Tournament of Power.
3 Whis Could Give Gohan The Sparring Of A Lifetime
Dragon Ball Super brings some very powerful deities into the picture with Gods of Destruction and Angels. Beerus and Whis have trained Goku and Vegeta in small doses, which occasionally includes combat. Gohan has shown tremendous progress over time and trained with some notable people, but he’s still fallen into a place of comfortable complacency. Gohan would actively benefit from training under Whis in an effort to improve his skills and regain his former glory. Gohan might manage to surprise Whis and their match could trigger some important revelations.
2 Majin Buu & Botamo Have Very Similar Styles
Dragon Ball Super has lots of time to explore Majin Buu's time with the heroes as one of the good guys. Buu gets ready to help out Universe 7 for some important tournaments, only for extenuating circumstances to intervene. Buu deserves more battles and he offers up much more creativity to his style of combat than other characters. Botamo is a Universe 6 fighter with a gelatinous physique that absorbs the impact of strikes. Buu and Botamo have such similar body types that it'd make for one of the more interesting showdowns, especially if Buu loses his cool.
1 Vegeta Deserves To Test His Strength Against Merus
Dragon Ball Super's manga has continued the anime's story beyond the Tournament of Power and moved into a bold and magical villain known as Moro. Merus is an Angel and a member of the Galactic Patrol who plays a vital role in Moro's defeat. Merus helps Goku refine his abilities, but he's the only one who gets to spar against him. Vegeta has such a different style to his combat that it's interesting to think how he would do against Merus and if it could even result in him accessing Ultra Instinct by chance.
