WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Dragon Ball Super Chapter 56, by Akira Toriyama and Toyotarou, available now in English from Viz Media.

In Dragon Ball Super Chapter 54, Jaco bought the Z-Fighters extra time to prepare for Moro's coming invasion, which the energy-absorbing villain allowed in hopes of draining as much power as possible from the planet and its inhabitants. A big part of the reason Moro chose to delay his attack has to do with the immensely powerful Goku and Vegeta, who have been training off-planet and whose power he wants to absorb. However, time is up, and the Z-Fighters are defending Earth without their two greatest heroes.

At the start of Chapter 56, the various Z-Fighters gather in preparation of Moro's invasion. The villain's army of escaped Galactic Patrol prisoners end up all across the world, with designs on the planet's various treasures. This means battles break out across the world and the Z-Fighters are quickly separated. Proving just how tough they are, the various heroes take down their enemies, though not without a pretty significant fight.

One of the biggest battles takes place between Gohan, Piccolo, Seven-Three and Shimonrekka, who fought earlier in the arc. The former two heroes are ambushed by Seven-Three. The villain quickly copies their powers, but Gohan and Piccolo are prepared this time around and do some pretty serious damage to Seven-Three. However, the villain -- who has infinite stamina -- uses Piccolo's powers to regrow his lost limbs, making him near impossible to take down permanently. Eventually, Seven-Three draws on Moro's energy-absorbing ability, which proved to be Gohan and Piccolo's undoing during their last fight against the villain.

As Seven-Three and Shimonrekka rush Gohan and Piccolo, Androids 17 and 18 intervene, with Piccolo revealing their lack of chi/ki make them invulnerable to energy absorption. All around the world, the Z-Fighters score major victories, meaning the invaders are pretty much defeated. Moro himself acknowledges that his army isn't doing well, but he's not particularly concerned. The villain is still waiting for Goku and Vegeta, who haven't yet returned.

Goku, who went off to learn how to master Ultra Instinct with the Angel Merus, departed for Earth in Chapter 55. Although he doesn't play much of a role in Chapter 56, the final page reveals that he's lost and unable to find his way to Earth. Vegeta, on the other hand, is still attempting to master the technique he believes will enable him to beat Moro. He's also very aware Moro hasn't joined the battle, so he knows there's still time.

Goku and Vegeta's new powers are definitely going to play a key role in defeating Moro, whose energy-absorbing power has made him the most deadly enemy in recent memory. Although the Z-Fighters will seemingly be able to handle Moro's army, it's unlikely they'll be able to actually handle the villain himself, as he was a powerhouse even before getting powered up to his full potential. Now that Moro is at maximum strength, it's going to take both power and clever thinking to bring him down and make him pay for giving his enemies the time to get better.

Dragon Ball Super Chapter 57 releases Feb. 20.
